The British Fashion Council announced the recipients of its prestigious NEWGEN funding today: the scheme, in collaboration with Topshop, gives upcoming British designers showcasing opportunities at LFW and business guidance as well as funding and financial support. Since the scheme began in 1993, it’s acted as a launch pad for a range of top designers including Alexander McQueen, J.W. Anderson and Christopher Kane (so you know it’s good).

This year, a variety of new-name British design talent will be receiving NEWGEN support; rebellious rising stars Ashley Williams and Ryan Lo – whose subversively playful designs have been making waves for a while now – have been given the opportunity to host catwalk shows through the scheme, whilst Marta Jakubowski and Sadie Williams, who joined NEWGEN last year, will host a presentation in 2016. Other names being awarded include Claire Barrow and Danielle Romeril and the NEWGEN committee have marked the Roberta Einer and her intelligent work as One to Watch. Jam packed with Wonderland faves.

Sarah Mower, the BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent, commented, “thanks to the sustained support from Topshop and Sir Philp Green NEWGEN has been London’s prime generator of exciting talent for over a decade.” Long may it continue!
