Everyone’s favourite pussy-bow king, Alessandro Michele, scoops the prestigious BFC award.

Alessandro Michele really needs no introduction to any avid Wonderland reader: we’ve gone mad time and time again for the way he’s revitalized Gucci over the past nine months and introduced a whole new set of trademark pieces for the brand. There’s the furry horsebit loafers, the poet-dandy pussy-bows, the unabashedly flamboyant flares and, most of all, that unique atmosphere of luxurious intellectualism that Alessandro has brought to one of the world’s most iconic brands.

It’s fitting then, that the British Fashion Council, principally backed on this one by Swarovski, has seen fit to announce Alessandro as this years recipient of their International Designer Award. Natalie Massenet, BFC Chair, commented: “Alessandro Michelle is a phenomenon at Gucci. His exciting eclectic aesthetic has made an overnight impact on global fashion trends. It is not just that he has made the brand covetable and the product so desirable. He has also reinvigorated the retail experience bringing back playfulness and magic to the flagship store.
