“Honestly, it was just a high-dea I had one night,” says Sk8rMom, AKA Grace Alhbom, of her Instagram alias. “Sk8r reminds me of old AIM usernames, and I added the mom part to throw people off. It’s laughable, though, because I’m really neither of those.”

The guise is for her work as a photographer, documenting the low-budget hedonism of life as a 20-something Brooklynite. Earlier this year, Alhbom put out Reckless, a zine of her and her friends’ photography work. “I don’t think we’ll ever get tired of road trips, skateboards, risky decisions, wild sex and dangerous behaviour,” reads the print magazine’s blurb. “Within these pages are seven photographers depicting just that.”
