Just like the rest of us, Sweden-via-London dancer Benjamin “Milan” Johnson grew up busting grooves “to Aqua and TLC in front of the mirror.” The difference is that Milan kept his dancing shoes on, going on to perform with the likes of Madonna and Kylie Minogue as part of UK voguing crew, House of Lady Di.
How many people do you know that have been scouted for work by FKA twigs? The Wonderland cover star contacted Milan after stumbling upon his YouTube channel. Soon-after, he starred in the singer’s mega Google Glass-sponsored short film, #throughglass. “It’s been a dream working with twigs, she listens and she has embraced voguing and its culture,” he enthuses. “I couldn’t ask for anything more; she is on her journey and I hope that is a long journey.” Asked what the 24-year-old thinks he’ll be doing in 10 year’s time, he replies, without fluttering an eyelash, “death drops.” So you think you can dance?
