Leopard print aplenty with khaki interludes, Versace SS16 was an interchangeable line of loud and muted.
Love of Leopard
If you were expecting another overload of garish prints at Versace this season (following the montage of neon leopard print paper pieces in the invitation) you would have been pleasantly surprised by the collection that played out before you. Yes, there was leopard print aplenty, but it was executed with an air of sophistication. Think leopard print slathered on jacquard fabricated suits, in muted tones of lime and khaki green – complete with matching backpack – and polo shirts with leopard patchwork panels.
Military Moment
A series of all khaki looks – consisting of slit front slips, pleated skirts belted army style coats, sleeved mini dresses, and chunky leather jackets gave a military moment, made feminine by bare legs, sheer under layers, soft locks and towering killer heels.
Boots to Kill
The SS16 Versace boots were quite the talking point post-show. Ranging from cut out and patch-worked, to a full leather version, the platform boots were served at eight inches tall with angled heels and gold metal hardware, to be teamed with boyfriend jeans and feminine dresses alike.
