Rising star MNEK and Swedish pop sensation Zara Larsson, have teamed up to collaborate on one of our favourite tracks of Q4, ‘Never Forget You’, and admittedly we’re obsessed with it! The deep house crossover track, which is laced with an infectious beat and a killer chorus sees both artists come together in unison to deliver one of the finest pop songs of the year. We salute you.

We sat down with the pair this week and asked them to reminisce on several tracks that they simply can’t get enough of. Enjoy.

MNEK’S PICKS

1. ‘Wannabe’ – Spice Girls

“This song is one of those tunes that everyone knows every word to but see it as a guilty pleasure. I have no guilt in any of my pleasures so I think Wannabe is a classic and that the Spice Girls are iconic”.

2. ‘Remember the Time’ – Michael Jackson

“Michael Jackson was the king of the pop music video, so as a kid his music videos were always on TV, and this video (along with its song) is one of my faves. Iman and Eddie Murphy = couple goals”.

3. ‘Honey’ – Mariah Carey

“Mariah is a favourite of mine, so you know I had to show some love. Honey is such a good track, she always knew how to make a great pop record with great production, clever sampling and big vocals. I couldn’t even talk when this song came out but I remember just being in awe of how sick Mariah was”.

4. ‘Pass Out’ – Tinie Tempah

“I remember first hearing this song about 5-6 years ago with Tinie actually and thinking “WTF NO ONE IS EVEN READY”. Labrinth is fucking genius, Tinie’s bars are so much fun and well written. Will never forget the moment this song blew up”.

5. ‘It’s Not Right But it’s Okay’ – Whitney Houston

“This song is pretty immaculate – Rodney Jerkins is a living legend and Whitney Houston (rest in peace) was in fine voice. Again, I remember when this video came out and I have the super futuristic all black vibes ingrained in my head”.

ZARA’S PICKS

1. “I Don’t Fuck With You – Big Sean, E-40.

“Cause everyone starts singing along and just vibes to it! I’m always smiling and laughing when I hear this song”

2. ‘Lean On’ – Major Lazor, Mø.

“Love everything about this song! Definitely been one of my summer jams”.

3. ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ – Rihanna

“I wish I had written that song myself. Everything about that song is just awesome. And Rihanna is awesome”.

4. ‘No Flex Zone’ –  Rae Sremmurd

“I just love how everyone start feeling this song and soon as it comes on! I love the vibe of the song”.

5. ‘Halo’ – Beyoncé

“I love every song she has ever done and could pick them all. But I love this one, it’s beautiful and deep. And she sounds amazing on this track. I love Beyoncé”.
