Wonderlist

Here’s this week’s #Wonderlist containing all the tracks that have recently been rocking our world. We have massive new tunes from Demi Lovato and Kyla La Grange plus, for those not in a rush, there’s an 11 minute epic from Swan’s guitarist Norman Westberg.

Demi Lovato – Confident

“What’s wrong with being confident?” asks Demi Lovato on her latest monster of pop single. This is probably a rhetorical question as nobody would dare answer back to Lovato. ‘Confident’ is a song so brilliant and empowering that it will have even the most delicate wallflower storming to the dancefloor.

Kyla La Grange – So Sweet

Kyla La Grange has been toiling at the coalface of pop music since the release of her debut album in 2012. ‘So Sweet’, a synth pop wonder, is the first single to be released from her third album which is the follow-up to 2014’s criminally underappreciated Cut Your Teeth.

New Order – Plastic

‘Plastic’ is the second single to drop from New Order’s tenth studio album, their first album since the departure of  Peter Hook. A New Order track mixed by Richard X and featuring backing vocals from La Roux’s Elly Jackson was never going to disappoint.

Norman Westberg – Frostbite Falls

‘Frostbite Falls’ is taken from Swans guitarist Norman Westberg’s album 13. Only 75 copies of 13 were available when the album was initially released. However, some good news for the person unlucky enough to be 76th in line at the record store that day. 13 has been remastered and is being rereleased via Lawrence English’s Room40.

Chris Loco – Ego feat. Raye

Chris Loco is a name you’re going become very familiar with. After writing and producing for other artists, Loco has finally released his debut single. ‘Ego’ is the first release from forthcoming EP See No Evil. Those powerful vocals on the track are provided by Raye. The pair previously collaborated on two tracks on Raye’s debut EP. See No Evil will be released in the autumn.

Cilia – ‘Silhouettes In Slow Motion’

The news that Cilia has released a really great single should come as no surprise. Three singles into her career, Cilia has yet to put a foot wrong. If the country’s musical output is anything to go by, the people of Sweden seem to get over their heartbreak by writing amazing pop songs. Much more productive than wallowing.

Sam Sure – Me & You

London based producer and vocalist Sam Sure has just dropped ‘Me & You’, the follow-up single to ‘Cracks’. On ‘Me & You’ Sam Sure’s sharp lyrics are accompanied by bouncing synths and tropical beats. ‘Me & You’ is available now via Black Butter Records

Taragana Pyjarama – Ariel

Taragana Pyjarama has unveiled the video for Ariel, the title track of his EP which was released by True Panther Sounds. The EP was released back in May and is well worth revisiting. The stunning video was directed by Lasse Martinussen.

Imaginary People – Summerstock

‘Summerstock’ is the new single from New York’s Imaginary People. This is first single taken from their debut-full-length album Dead Letterbox which was produced by Kevin McMahon (Swans, Titus Andronicus, Real Estate). ‘Summerstock’ has a garage rock feel but is infinitely better than the stuff you recorded with your mates during the school holidays.
