Iconic British accessories brand Red or Dead join forces again with rising-star Ashley Williams for a unique footwear collection.
Ashley Williams’s AW15 collection at LFW last year was titled ‘Last Chance to Escape Planet Earth’, which tells you a lot about her designs: they’re fun and playful, but also subversive and anarchic. That collection featured fur bucket hats, a healthy dose of PVC, and sewn on emblems aplenty, giving the show a punky and rebellious atmosphere with clothes clearly intended for girls who don’t care about convention. It’s good news for her growing-army of cult fans, then, that Ashley has teamed up for a second time with Red or Dead to release a range of shoes and boots for retailer Schuh.
The designs are everything we would expect from Williams, and feature bold, uncompromising details and fabrications – high-gloss vinyl and metallic, glittering pinks are used on tall platform boots while Williams’ trademark animal bags find themselves a partner in the form of mouse-motif heels. Ashley Williams received prestigious NEWGEN funding last year (a sure sign of good things to come), so these party-ready pieces will be grabbed quickly by anyone after a slice of her kitsch-cool.
