Nick Knight’s client list reads like a who’s who of the fashion industry. From iconic collaborations with Alexander McQueen and John Galliano to controversial shoots for Dazed and Diesel via editorials for Vogue, W Magazine, V and Garage; Knight’s been responsible for some of the most iconic fashion images of the last four decades, and he’s still the photographer du jour for celebrities like Kanye and Lady Gaga. Now that’s some staying power.

Perhaps one of the reasons that he’s stayed at the top of his game for so long is because he’s a big supporter of emerging talent. He recently shot the AW15 campaign for LC:M favourite Craig Green, and he’s also mentored other fashion photography greats like Craig McDean, Sølve Sundsbø and Ruth Hogben.

So it should come as no surprise that the fashion industry’s buzzing about his latest project. In collaboration with Mastered – a company that creates online talent programs led by industry icons – Knight has devised a program called Photography: Mastered with Nick Knight, which is focussed on finding and nurturing the next generation of fashion image-makers. Knight says that he “felt for quite some time now that the way photography is taught in colleges isn’t relevant,” so he aims to shake up the industry once again by opening up-and-coming photographers’ minds to new creative processes.

Through video footage and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to unseen projects, as well as live Q&As with Knight and a host of his peers, exposure opportunities from global titles – did we mention that we’ll be profiling 10 of our favourite photographers from the program in an online article? – and portfolio reviews from industry experts, Knight wants to future-proof the careers of the world’s most promising fashion photographers by introducing them to an unrivalled creative network.

The early adopters who have already enrolled have shot for the likes of Vogue, L’Officiel, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle, and have assisted other photography greats such as David Lachapelle, Willy Vanderperre and Steven Meisel. But they’re still hungry for more.
