PREMIERE: THE BEACH – “MAYBE”

We haven’t been so into the sounds of acoustic guitars since Bon Iver. Get drawn in by The Beach’s off-kilter tones.

Cited as The Beach’s most direct song to date, ‘Maybe?’ is an enthralling offering. Opening with his gravelly voice, harking out against soft guitars, you can’t help but listen to every word as he calls out about starting wars. A much more conventional pop breakdown leads into himself questioning about love and ignorance. Full throttle fighting calls dissolve in soulful vocal soars and make for a confusing, thrilling mix.

The video won’t help too much with your fluctuating emotions either, spinning from character to character, each chained to a desk in a police questioning room. There’s tears, impassioned screams, threats and pensive stares. Our favourite is the blonde girl who looks like an angel who spits everywhere. Good on ya girl.
