American singer-songwriter Samantha Crain has released the official video to the entrancing “Kathleen” with Wonderland.
Samantha Crain is not your ordinary girl. Having taught herself guitar from an early age it comes by no surprise that she completed her first tour at the age of 19, and yes we are ready for another one. Crain released her latest album “Under Branch & Thorn & Tree” last month and has received a huge amount of attention since. Her smouldering vocals and attention to the little things that revolve around our everyday lives are why this musician has managed to pull on your heartstrings. She sees the problems in society that we do not necessary address and sings about them in the most lyrically beautiful way.
Crain explained “I don’t write protest songs in the traditional sense, but I’m always listening to the voices of people around me. These stories are told from the perspective of the underdog, the 99% of us that are working people. They might not be literal protest songs, but the lives of the people within these songs speak at the same volume if you listen.”. But she doesn’t only see the darkness in the working class life, and while the tone may be sombre, the bright flashes of optimism and hope structured in rhythmical patterns are the reasons for why we’ve developed this unescapable attachment to her music.
