5 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT RALEIGH RITCHIE

As Raleigh Ritchie gears up towards the release of his highly anticipated debut album later this year, he shares his brand new single “Bloodsport”.

RALEIGH RITCHIE

With two strings to his bow, actor and singer Raleigh Richie has a lot to shout about. Otherwise known as Jacob Anderson (and Grey Worm from Game of Thrones, of course) we asked the man himself to talk us through his brand new single “Bloodsport”. Here, we chart five Ritchie anecdotes you need to know.

1. The track was written 3 years ago (there was a dog in the room when we wrote it) and was originally a piano ballad, with quite a different structure, but Raleigh didn’t feel like it was passionate enough.

2. Contrary to popular belief, this song wasn’t inspired by a Jean Claude Van Damme movie, or Fox Hunting… it’s actually a comment on relationships, and the need to fight back against the world, as opposed to each other.

3. The track originally appeared on Raleigh’s Black and Blue EP. “Bloodsport” 2015 now has added real strings, as opposed to synthetic.

4. The arrangement was written and performed by the amazing Rosie Danvers & Wired Strings, who has written strings for the likes of Kanye West, and Adele.

5. There is often a misheard lyric in there, which is actually “I am unmanned” and “willingly damned”, not “I am a man” and “willingly down.”

Raleigh Ritchie will release his new single ‘Bloodsport’ on September 11th via Columbia Records.
