PREMIERE: JESS GLYNNE – “WHY ME”

Ahead of the release of her debut album, I Cry When I Laugh, Jess Glynne shares her track “Why Me” with Wonderland.

We’ve been drip-fed the talents of Jess Glynne since she featured on Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be” and “My Love” by Route 94 but now we’re finally allowed to get excited in anticipation for the release of her album. Due out August 21, “I Cry When I Laugh” is set to climb straight up the charts with three of her top ten hits, “Right Here”, “Real Love” and “Hold My Hand” already taking pride of place on the track list. Jess’ latest single, “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself” has already amassed nearly a million and half views and the track hasn’t even been officially released yet!

So, with great pleasure we can share “Why Me” with you all. Jess’ voice is the focus throughout the entire track with her expert rhythm and warm timbre boosted by a pulsating bass beat and slow paced percussion. Despite Jess’ powerhouse vocals making the song feel uplifting on first listen, the lyrics reveal themes of being oppressed and unearthing insecurities. Echoed vocals and backing harmonies bring it all together in the final moments for an incredible and emotional crescendo to finish.
