GOSHA RUBCHINSKIY × TIMUR NOVIKOV

Taking inspiration from Soviet artist Timur Novikov’s work, Gosha Rubchinskiy presents an exclusive collection for Dover Street Market.

Gosha Rubchinskiy, fashion designer, photographer and film maker is taking inspiration from fellow Russian artist Timur Novikov for an exclusive collection for Dover Street Market. Rubchinskiy initially began his career by photographing his friends – which then led him to create his own brand in order to develop his post-Soviet youth style. He creates his own language by centring his art on multimedia, as well as designing and photographing his own collections seen here on his self-cast models.

For this exclusive collection, Rubchinskiy draws inspiration from Novikov’s work in the Soviet Nonconformist Art movement. A feat that’s positioned him as a popular figure amongst 80s Soviet culture and many Russian adolescents today. He’s also a cult artist and pioneer in punk and rock scenes. His Horizons series from the late 80s is reinvented by Rubchinskiy in the form of a simple sunrise motif seen throughout the collection.

Consisting of four t-shirts, three sweatshirts and four caps, the collection launches exclusively it Dover Street Market London, Dover Street Market New York, Dover Street Market Ginza and the Paris Trading Museum on July 25 2015.
