PLAYLIST: KYIKI

From Jeff Buckley to Aphex Twin, Kyiki shares a playlist of her all time top music memories with Wonderland.

KYIKI 2015

Kyiki – aka Ellie Fletcher – is riding the wave of the new pop sound subculture, alongside the likes of Grimes and Tove Lo. The dark and synthetic sounds of Kyiki is transformative from her times with Crystal Fighters and her vocals are eerily sweet.

It’s been a year since she put her last track out, but the release of hotly anticipated “Black Light” is exactly what we’ve been waiting for. Menacingly addictive, “Black Light” is sure to be a hit with the movers and shakers. In celebration of her release, we asked Kyiki to share some of her all time best musical moments with us.

Mura Musa – “Lovesick Fuck”

Piano, steel drums and sax. Vibes.

Jeff Buckley – “So Real”

Those chords though…

The Roots – “Game Theory”

I chose this one as I joined painfully late to The Roots game, my best friend only recently educated me on them, obviously my life is better now.

Sufjan Stevens – “For the Windows of Paradise”

This song is one of my favourites ever, so beautiful, heavy association going on here for me personally as well…

Glass Animals – “Wyrd”

Cos it’s smooth as hell, lyrical pleasure/confusion at all points.

Fella Kuti – “Expensive Shit”

Because its a 13 minute tropical, jazzy delight.

Aphex Twin – “Windowlicker”

Because it takes me back to the days of being 16. And vodka.

Kate Bush – “Babooshka”

‘Cos she is freaky and I love it…

Emile Haynie – “Come Find Me Ft Lykke Li, Romy”

‘Cos it makes me happy sad. Lykke Li’s voice gets me every time.

M.O.P – “Cold As Ice”

Because this is obviously a classic.
