Nods of approval from the CFDA and the hip-hop set alike make Public School the epitome of “right now” New York cool. With industry favorites like Nick Wooster and Waris Ahluwalia mixed in with the downtown model set, the label’s lineup this season – literally a police lineup – put its cool-kid status on display, a veritable who’s-who of criminally hip New York cool kids.
Without a shadow of a doubt
This was Public School doing what it does best – offering cool and sophisticated design without the self-consciousness of “design”, for guys who want the street cred of a trendy silhouette, minus the fuss. All black, white, and navy put the emphasis on the wearer and on the details.
With long, thigh-grazing outerwear and layering in the form of jacket-escaping hemlines, the best looks met their success with a subtle proportions-play. A little long here, a little short there, all in luminescent navy or black-and-white check, finished off with baseball caps and glossy sneakers.
