PREMIERE: YOUNG KARIN – “BONES”

An orchestral opening leads into hollow beats and fluttering synths on ‘Bones’, the latest release from Iceland’s Young Karin.

Karin Sveinsdóttir and Logi Pedro Stefánsson are good to you, (undoubtedly now) their fans. Despite being the critically acclaimed recipients of debut of the year at the Icelandic Music Awards, having supported Lykke Li and internationally toured, they’re still giving their PYK EP away for free today. All of their accolades surely put them at the forefront of Icelandic youth culture, representing the young creatives of the sparsely populated country.

After a 40-second strong intro dominated by brass and Karin’s soft vocals, their new track “Bones” expands into frantic electronic sounds. It’s remains easy listening in part due to the lightness of the percussion and the tracks constant movement but it’s the muted quality in Karin’s voice that curves the track into a smooth progression.
