Untie Timur Kim’s story of unrequited love in his debut menswear SS16 collection.
Telling the tale of a professor’s unreturned love for his student, watched over by three gods who have suffered the same fate and are consequently dying, the collection symbolises love and those lovers that suffered. The collection was inspired by Virginia Woolf’s “Nature, Nature, I’m your bride, take me!” and is a tribute to his unaccomplished medical path and confused teenage years.
Dazzling whites are combined with off-white hues, to give it an ethereal, look but don’t touch feel. Kim makes surgical wearable with medical lab coats and gowns combined with wide-leg statement shorts in a patchwork of natural fibres, such as denim, cotton, leather and satin. Leather ties are slung around the gowns, enclosing the whole look together in a neat knot. The set only enhances the white theme more, providing the perfect backdrop of ever so slightly patterned fabrics to complete this white-out story.
