Silks, Egyptian cotton shirting and a colour palette of all the treasures of the earth, Canali SS16 was super-luxe.
Flashing between the refined in shape (think suits, briefcases and brogues) and the playful in material with light linens and espadrille-soled crocodile skin, Canali walked an entrancing line between wearability and luxury. Canali’s Creative Consultant, Andrea Pompilio said of the collection, “I see the Canali man, suspended in the timeless atmosphere of an everlasting Mediterranean Summer.” We certainly can’t see him anywhere else. It’s the smartness of the clean lines juxtaposed by the rich colour choices and fabrics that evoke this imagery. A man wanting to look his best without the restrictions of a uniform. There’s a touch of the casual, because everyone needs downtime, in the bone coloured bomber and camel coat, tied at the waist, it cocoons instead of crumples, creating a loose, aesthetically pleasing curve above razor sharp trouser folds.
