East London local Fran Lobo premieres her debut single, “Is This Love” with Wonderland.

Despite competing with a thundering bassline, Fran Lobo’s voice shines through on “Is This Love”. Clear, controlled, unfaltering, it’s hard to focus on anything but her vocals. Twinkling keys open into a growl of bass and Lobo comes in powerful yet understated before she runs up and down scales effortlessly. While harmonies evoke that ever-present ‘haunting’ quality, the bassline sets “Is This Love” apart from the norm. The rest of Lobo’s forthcoming EP Beautiful Blood is much the same, cinematic without being dramatic, retaining an edge of attitude.

It’s unsurprising that Lobo has already caught the attention of Radio 1Xtra’s Charlie Sloth and having performed at Bestival and at London’s Barfly and Roundhouse, she’s in prime position to emerge out of the sidelines and into the mainstream.

“Is This Love” is digitally released 29th June. Beautiful Blood EP will be released on 6th July via Fran Lobo Music. Fran will play an EP Release party at Dalston Servant Jazz Quarters on the 1st July.
