Givenchy AW15

Decadent red velvet, exterior corsetry and killer cylindrical heels – Ricardo Tisci channels ‘Victorian Chola girl’ for Givenchy AW15.

The Givenchy Girl Gang

Perhaps the most striking hair and make up look we’ve seen this season to date, Ricardo Tisci’s Givenchy girls were adorned with heavy black, silver and gold nose, septum and ear piercings and oversized pearl and diamond face embellishments in excess, whilst their hair was gelled into slick Ma Vida Loca style Cholla girl curls. Referred to as Givenchy ‘Angels’ on Tisci’s Instagram page post-show, the Givenchy AW15 girls were half born from historic Victorian references, half from Chola girl gang culture – these girls were powerful, independent and fierce in equal measure.

Red Velvet

No we’re not talking cake. With midnight blue and blood red velvet (along with lashings of opulent mink and fox fur) in the collection, Tisci was serving amplified luxury this season. Always one to remix historic references in his own unique way, we saw decadent textured silks, stiff corseted jackets, heavily embellished suiting and Minotaur prints advance down the runway to rave response.

Decadent Details

Set to celebrate his tenth year at the helm of Givenchy in a matter of months, it was only right Tisci made his mark with a celebratory handbag design – think all black leather covered in fur. A Givenchy monster to sit in the crook of your arm? Yes please! But it wasn’t just the new bag that caught our eye, we’re head over heels for the AW15 footwear, too. Cylindrical block heel platform boots in red velvet and black leather with either a two-tone marble heel or plain… Need we say more?
