PFW: Celine AW15

Céline girls have always been grown up but this season they’re getting playful. Think pom poms, all-in-ones and a whole menagerie of animal prints.

Shake Your Tail Feather(s)

Undone and distressed embroidery on dresses was completed with a haze of feathers at the hem. Not like the fluffiness we saw at Sibling back at LFW but more angular, cut into square-like finishes which made the overall look less typically girly, it was stronger, harsher and you’d be forgiven for thinking they were rows of thick layered tulle. Fur came into play too, with huge pom poms, bigger than your head, on leather sashes, worn over the shoulder. They looked odd next to the clean, classic lines of Céline, unpleasing to the eye even, but of course we’re all left wondering, why on earth hasn’t this been a thing before?

Silken Slips

As far as classic Céline goes, the most traditional pieces were the slips and all-in-ones. Nude and black slips with ever-so-slightly dropped waists were injected with shots of eye-popping orange and diamonds of red and although simple and relaxed in fit, flowed with a romantic fluidity into full bodied skirts. The jumpsuits were cut with navel length v’s and layered up beneath. Loose but panelled, they’re sure to be a favourite with the Paris crowd this winter. We can already see ourselves walking down the Champs-Élysées in the snow, kitted out head to toe in Céline.

Welcome to The Jungle

Zebra print probably doesn’t spring to mind when you think of Parisian chic but Phoebe Philo has done it right with her collar contrast collars and external pockets. Little critters also got a rare look in with prints featuring weasels, rabbits, foxes and deer.
