Rick Owens AW15

Sequins, frills and masks: Owen’s unique voice shines through his conceptual AW15 collection.

Sequins and Frills

Owens’s love for old Hollywood was subtle yet an over-glamorised threshold embezzled the ambience of the show. Presented were an appliqué of glittery sequins that embellished the torso of these blanket-like constructions whereas frills in the form of pony hair and metallic decoration would dance while the models marched forward through thesolid setting.

Mayan Masks

The collection titled ‘Sphinx’ was very apparent against the metallic masks that fluctuated throughout the show. Models’ faces were adorned with shiny gold and silver leaf that resembled tribal Mayan masks that would soon reveal unfinished in nature surely caught the audience’s attention in prior respect to his men’s FW15 collection.

Voluminous Silhouettes

A classic for the expressionist designer whose overwhelming drapes stole our hearts contents as subtle yet dramatic silhouettes brushed through the wind oh so quickly, however to not mention his eponymous shape would be a sin. Fabric in dust green, black, grey and so on were stretched and pulled at different angles of the body despite the fact that you started to feel the presence of a statuesque warrior pacing emotionlessawhile leaving a lasting impression. Comfortable yet practical construction is what the designer reigns so well at, nonetheless it has always been the concept to have a unique voice that Owens puts weight into every show.
