The Queen of Punk and concept boutique Opening Ceremony collaborate this month on a unisex ‘Worlds End’ collection, inspired by Westwood’s Chelsea boutique.

Long before Chelsea became synonymous with ‘Made In’, it was the epicentre of the UK punk scene, with Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren’s store at it’s heart. All eyes were on London and Westwood’s politically charged designs in 1971 when the boutique opened and Westwood’s instantly recognisable designs were developed. Less punk, more Prada, the King’s Road isn’t quite the same as the 70s now but the legacy has continued in the store, from the uneven floorboards to the slogan tees, you can imagine what it was like, just add copious amounts of safety-pins.

The Opening Ceremony collaboration arose from the shared desire to create something for the rebels of 2015, an ‘Urban Guerilla’. For the first time, the ‘Worlds End’ collection, usually exclusive to the London boutique, will be available to buy recreated archive designs elsewhere. Remembering the store’s history, (it’s been called Let it Rock, Sex, Seditionaries and Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die) a Seditionaries label is sewn into each piece.

The capsule collection includes the SS10 Drunk Anarchy Shirt, the SS82 Savage Jumper, the AW83 Clint Eastwood Bomber Jacket and the square cut and toga shirts, Pirate Trousers, Achilles Shorts and the Sex Twister T-shirt printed with the chaos print. Unisex vests and t-shirts make an appearance and the Tongue Trainer, the first trainer to be worn down the the catwalk in AW83 have been reissued.

The Worlds End collection will be available to buy from February 9th 2015.
