PREMIERE: KAITLIN RIEGEL – “WHEN I FALL ASLEEP”

New Zealand newcomer Kaitlin Riegel shares the video for her emotional ballad, ‘When I Fall Asleep’.

Kaitlin Riegel is here to tug at your heartstrings as a rather more traditional alternative to the EDM tracks currently shooting up the charts and flooding the airwaves. A good, old-fashion singer-songwriter, Riegel first took the stage at just 10-years-old at an open mic night in the US and by then had already been playing the piano for five years. Having moved (literally) to the other side of the world at 13, she began to write her own songs, turning everything she saw around her into music.

Her live show is much the same as her songwriting style, using Voicelive touch, to somehow (it sounds like magic to us) use herself beat-boxing as her percussion and bass and building her own harmonies while simultaneously singing and playing the piano.

‘When I Fall Asleep’ is a melancholic ballad, with the chords, melody and percussion simply serving as a frame for Kaitlin’s haunting harmonies, like a choral choir, they echo and the unusual but likeable tone of her voices shines through.
