PAPER LONDON AW15

We take a closer look at the Paper London AW15 show, at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.

For AW15, Brit brand Paper London did exactly what they say they were going to do; clean sharp silhouettes and graphic bold intarsia knits at their debut show in Berlin, presented by Mercedes-Benz and Elle Germany.

Cheers from the front row saw turtle neck jumpers in a ribbed satin wool smothering the models necks; as bang on-trend thigh skimming jumper dresses, in pastels and whites, slid down the catwalk as though they were yacht shopping on the French Riviera. Sleek hair combined with a take on Jane Berkin-esque shapes gave a whiff of the effortless style Paper London is renowned for; whilst models clutched onto their extended woollen sleeves in a innocent girl-next-door sort of way.

Chiffon pantaloons and dressing gown inspired trench coats in thick fabrics transgressed from stark whites into 70s autumnal colours – browns and burnt oranges on culottes and high-waisted cigarette pants. It felt like a boat ride from the Riviera.

The highlight? Amongst the petrol blue satin cigarette pants and spacious chiffon dresses came a Micky Mouse dress; circular mouse ears forming a bustier complimenting the acid house Mouse in a mouse trap backdrop, with pounding music. A collection you know you can wear, you can rely on for shapes and a silhouette worthy of a sea breeze.

Paper London showed Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, how it’s done. High-fashioin met by humour. Speaking of humour, Mercedes-Benz have created a hilarious satirical short fashion film ‘A Fistful of Wolves’ as part of their Creative series. Illustrating that fashion doesn’t need to take itself so seriously, it’s erious fashion for the well humoured.
