Mr. Porter have teamed up with the brains behind Kingsman: Secret Service to create a new menswear label, Kingsman. The debut collection includes suiting, outerwear, shirting, knitwear and accessories with a clear focus on the best of British craftsmanship, all of which charm us in the film. Hitting the silver screen on the 29th January, Kingsman is directed by the one and only Matthew Vaughn. Recognise the name? Thought so (he also made the blockbuster action films Kick Ass 2 and X-Men First Class) so if you haven’t guessed already, it’s an action film. Starring Michael Caine, Colin Firth and emerging British actor and one to watch Taron Egerton, the aforementioned names are all part of a super secret spy organization, bursting to the brim with hidden gadgets, suave smooth talking British undercover agents and of course the slick suits to match. With Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch under it’s belt, it’s safe to say Vaughn knows a thing or two about making British film and for him, a collab with Mr. Porter was a no brainer.

“For the first time culturally, we’re at a point where we have a global medium like film, with a global reach, being met with e-commerce with MR PORTER that has the same a global reach,” says Kingsman costume designer Arianne Phillips of the collaboration.

Having worked on films such as W.E, Walk the Line, A single Man, and Girl, Interrupted, Vaughn was in good company with Phillips and her many BAFTA and Oscar nominated films. Known for her cutting edge designs, Phillips tells us that “everyone from the Duke of Windsor, to Cary Grant, to Oliver Reed, to Roger Moore, and of course Sean Connery” inspired her for the collection. Rooted in Britain with Saville Row influences, the collection is complete with a velvet smoking jacket, of course! “I think it’s ripe for a makeover, just perfect timing, as it’s such a classic Savile Row silhouette, and now’s the time for a younger man to wear it,” says Phillips of the timeless menswear staple.

The perfect combination of style, luxury, production and quality accumulate in Mr. Porter and they are adamant this isn’t a one-time collaboration. It is the unique launch of a new brand. Breaking the norm, the clothing for Kingsman is not to be put in storage; it is to be celebrated, with each and every purchase.
