Following the first adidas ‘SPEZIAL’ last year, adidas Originals have teamed up with Gary Aspden to create a new capsule collection available now on oki-ni.com

After the overwhelming success of the 2013  adidas ‘SPEZIAL’ exhibition, project curator and ‘3 stripe’ devotee Gary Aspden collaborated with the adidas team to create a new, archive inspired collection of clothing and footwear labelled ‘adidas Originals X SPEZIAL’. “Growing up in the north west of England in the 70’s and 80’s adidas was (and still is) the brand we all gravitated towards,” says Aspden. “I have been a fan ever since. I grew up loving the sophistication of European sportswear brands”

Re-working some of the brands iconic classics for the twenty first century, the range taps into the spirit of the brand’s core identity and presents it in a new context. “I am confident it will appeal to the mindset of the most hardened adidas fans whilst presenting another side of this very diverse brand to a whole new audience,” he continues.

Having launched this weekend, the debut AW14 collection includes twelve iconic vintage adidas apparel pieces, re-designed and re-invented in premium fabrics and modern cuts with the footwear taking four classic adidas silhouettes and tweaking them, whilst still retaining the brand’s DNA. The collection is available now on oki-ni.com.
