London club night Handsome, is joining forces with the doyenne of protest fashion, Dame Vivienne Westwood and son Joe Corre, to raise awareness against fracking
One of London’s hottest clubnights, Handsome, is joining forces with the doyenne of protest fashion, Dame Vivienne Westwood, and designer and activist Joe Corre, to raise awareness for the campaign against fracking.
In a one-night only party hosted by British style icon Princess Julia, ‘Fracking Hell’ will highlight the importance of putting this controversial gas extraction process at the top of the news agenda – with celebrities including Sir Paul McCartney, Lily Cole, Yoko Ono, Katharine Hamnett, Jude Law, Helena Bonham Carter and Bianca Jagger already supporting the ‘We Need To Talk About Fracking’ project.
Corre, who is Vivienne Westwood’s son and heads up the Talk Fracking initiative, says: “It seems we now have a choice between a destructive solution or a creative one. Will this fracking technology really deliver energy security or a toxic legacy for future generations? We need to talk about it and the time is now.”
The charity event includes a glittering mix of performers, cabaret stars and DJs all coming together with their dancing feet for a worthy cause. A designer raffle will also take place and a ‘Trashion’ show from East London’s alternative drag scene, showcasing creations made entirely from recycled materials – a nod to promoting sustainable fashion.
