Edinburgh boys Jakil are back with a new remix of their glorious single “Istanbul”

While the original was a summer-ready pop cut inflected with elastic guitars and a driving rhythm section, the remix, by South Londoner Utrecht samples singer Kieran’s sexy, yearning vocal, playing it over the top of bouncy house beats building to a heady, soaring drop.

It makes for quite a change to the original, swapping the white-soul vibe for club-ready beats, repurposing it for a totally different audience. It’s a bold move from the South London producer, but somehow it just about works.
