PLAYLIST: SAM TIBA

In honour of his new EP “Samuel” we got rising producer and DJ Sam Tiba to make us a playlist of songs for Paris Fashion Week

SAM TIBA -® Felipe Barbosa

Sam Tiba caught our attention recently with the eerily rhythmic lead track off his new EP, “Deguisement”. Although already aware of his previous project (he’s one half of super-hyped four-piece Club Cheval, who’ve been making waves online for the last few years and have just produced a new track for Kanye West and Theophilius London) we were in no way prepared for his solo work, much less the stunning accompanying video, directed by Nick and Chloe.

To celebrate his work as a solo artist we asked him to make us a playlist to celebrate fashion week in Paris, where he’s based. After all, who better to curate the soundtrack to a city than a native?

Sohn – Bloodflows
I love how some producers use their voice as a real instrument. Sampling and resampling themselves. Sohn is the perfect example.

The Dream – February Love
The best r&b writer and composer in my opinion. His solo career is a bit underrated, and this is one of my favourite tracks ever

Sampha – Indecisions
Sampha has worked with SBTRKT and Drake where has displayed his piano and songwriting skills. This one is from a solo opus he released last year. I love the writing and the sequencing of this song.

Sam Tiba – Eldorado
A track I released last year. I think it’s a good introduction to my music.

Charly Black – Whine & Kotch
Definitely the dancehall heater of the last year. I’m still playing it anytime I’m down!

Canblaster – I think About U
My friend Canblaster released this track a year ago. Beautiful chords, genius vocal chops, and a whole narrative aspect that shows up after the 100th time you listen to it

Rae Sremmurd – No Type
The only real rap boys band in the world right now. Created by amazing producer Mike Will, this young band has everything it takes to become massive.

Ilovemakonnen – Tuesday feat. Drake
ILOVEMAKONNEN comes from Atlanta and his baritone voice over the trap beats (made by Young Thug’s producers Sonny Digital & Dundeal) continues to amaze me. This remix features the one and only Drake
