Behind the Scenes: Paul Smith SS15

We film behind the scenes at Paul Smith’s SS15 show taking a closer look at his collection which screams sophisti-safari

The Collection

Sophisti-safari

A plethora of muted shades, raw and tactile fabrics, smooth satins, silk separates and of course signature stripes, the SS15 Paul Smith woman is effortlessly stylish and self-confident. Striped bomber jackets were teamed with striped pencil skirts, whilst striped dresses were served with a fringe. With accents of khaki present the whole collection through, it screamed sophisti-safari – but if there’s no wildlife in sight, the city will do.

Formal deconstruction

This time around traditional tailoring underwent unconventional deconstruction. Think classic dinner shirts, with buttoned collars that were switched for roll necks, adopting elongated hem-lines, allowing them to loose the properties they’re expected to possess. Whilst shirts were re-imagined in various guises, trousers came as nipped tuxedo pant’s that complimented tailored jackets, with paper bag waistlines, as fine cotton slacks and as oversized culottes perfect for keeping cool, whilst smart, in the summer.

Origami

Paul Smith’s SS15 accessories came in the shape of gold metal hardware finished with an oversized cufflink charms, pink and purple framed sunglasses and Origami side-saddle bags. Meanwhile sandals and strapped stilettos were constructed in raw leather, channeling the effortless and honest feel of the collection, that is portrayed throughout.
