PREMIERE: AUCLAIR – “MERSEA MERSEA ME”

London artist Auclair has dropped the stunning video for her track “Mersea Mersea Me”, taken from her upcoming “Semaphore” EP

Auclair

A medley of visually arresting set pieces exploring themes as intricate and vast as sacrifice, sanctity and rebirth, the video perfectly expresses the astonishing variety of the song: Auclair has already drawn praise for producing a sound which is totally unexpected and delightfully counter-intuitive. The darkness of the recurring images of blood in the video paired with the innocence of the protagonist (a really cute kid!), adopts the same balance, allowing the clip to work in effective tandem with the song.

Directed by Markus Hofko, Auclair says of the collaboration:

“I’ve been a big fan of Markus Hofko for ages, I was so curious to see how his visual brain would re-imagine my sound. He has a way of making the invisible visible in really bold creative forms, a way of being completely transparent yet never giving away too much – a bit like the way dreams work. Mersea Mersea Me comes from that place, somewhere the line between your internal and external worlds gets so blurred you can’t separate them, and in that intersection something more real and true can come out.”

“Semaphore” is released via Kit Records on September 29th, and you can buy it here. Auclair plays a launch show for the EP on September 24th at Power Lunches.
