In the midst of the madness of fashion month, we made a list of seven kooky collabs we would go wild for!
1. NeNe for Nasir
Inspired by her recurring role on Glee as Coach Roz Washington, it seems only natural NeNe Leakes collaborates with streetwear label Nasir Mazhar. The designer’s highly branded pieces would give ample opportunity for the Atlanta housewife and pretend tracksuit-wearing teacher to leave her mark. Yasssss, honey.
2. Ja’mie for Jeremy Scott
Following on from the success of his AW14 line for Moschino, it’d be no surprise if the irreverent Jeremy Scott was still feeling the food theme for his own SS15 collection. And who better a collaboration compadre than the Queen of Quiche herself, Ja’mie?
3. Maddie Zieglar x Rick Owens
Manic dance crew take 2? We vote Rick Owens rope in Maddie Zieglar, the 11-year-old with some serious dancing skillz, to choreograph a new routine rivalling that of his SS13 step team dancers’. The mini Sia’s disturbing dance moves are the perfect amount of deranged for the American designer.
4. Lena Dunham & Gia Coppola x Marc by Marc Jacobs
If film director Spike Jonze and The Wolf of Wall Street’s Jonah Hill can do a play for Opening Ceremony’s SS15 collection, then alright, alright, alright; so can these surprisingly compatible fashion bedfellows. Newgen film directors Lena Dunham and Gia Coppola capture today’s outspoken younger generation, and Marc by Marc Jacobs’ new directors, Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier are responsible for dressing them. Um, hello, match made in heaven!
5. Versace feat. Iggy Azalea
Big booty bitches rejoice: yo’ gurl IggyIg is representin’ those with a little junk in their trunk by teaming up with the doyenne of body-con, Donatella Versace. We’re envisioning an Ode to the Badonkadonk, with the Australian rapper’s ass-friendly designs jiggling down the catwalk to a Salt-n-Pepa DJ Spinderella remix of J.Lo’s “Booty” and Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda”.
6. Solange x Chanel
Considering Solange’s recent elevator antics and given that Chanel’s AW14 campaign features a fight-ready Cara Delevingne and Binx Walton, it’s rather fitting that the chanteuse give her two cents on Chanel’s upcoming SS15 line, right? Riiiighht? Who knows; she might be able to show Kaiser Karl’s models some new moves.
7. Grimes for Topshop
Our favourite Brooke Candy bestie, Grimes has gone a little quiet since her Visions album circa 2012. But all that could change if the master of “witch house” teamed up with Topshop. While England’s favourite high street label is renowned for pushing the limits of its fashion shows, it could take some notes from the girl who brought us “Genesis”. Because boa constrictors, cosplay costumes and desert dirt throwing? C’mon, Grimes’ got some kooky ideas.
