Fronting the contemporary e-tailer’s SS14 campaign, LA-born slashie Tinashe talks to Opening Ceremony about her signature style, her upcoming album launch and all things ‘2 on’

If you haven’t heard of the LA-raised actress-cum-dancer-cum-singer Tinashe, where have you been? She first came on the scene in Hollywood, racking up a series of high profile acting gigs, from a role in 2004’s The Polar Express to the more recent slot on Two and A Half Men, after which the 21-year-old then turned her attention to the music business. After cutting her teeth in girl group The Stunners, Tinashe set her sights on becoming a solo artist. Having released a series of mixtapes in 2012, which she wrote and recorded in her childhood bedroom, a much more high profile single release comes in the form of 2 On, which features Schoolboy Q, and an upcoming album launch, all eyes are on Tinashe.

The fashion industry has also taken note of the singer, with Opening Ceremony choosing her to front the latest in their The Look series. Dressed in her favourite pieces from their SS14 collection, the brand have quizzed her on her personal style, her love of Nasir Mazhar, and the concept behind her irresistibly catchy new single. Speaking of the meaning of ‘2 On’, she revealed: “it means to be super-hyped up, or turnt up, and you can use it in other contexts other than getting ‘fucked up’. If you’re really hyped up about something, or really excited, or getting ready to go out, you can be 2 On, all day, every day.”

From that description we can unequivocally say we are 2 On over Tinashe, and you should be too. To read the full interview head over to Opening Ceremony’s website.
