Equal parts sophisticated and silly: the perfect ratio for London jewellery label Mawi’s AW14 collection

True to form, this AW14 Mawi brings us yet another collection positively rich with what are soon to be must-have items. A rather striking departure from the jewellery label’s brightly hued SS14 line, this new range of designs is far more restrained in terms of the colour palette: a sweeping array of icy white, silver and anthracite.

Although that’s not to say the collection is without humour; a theme common throughout Mawi’s catalogue since its beginnings in 2002. No, illustrator Valentina Pavlyuk has certainly helped to inject Mawi’s AW14 collection with oodles of quirkiness. Cute neon robots serve as friendly companions of the label’s model Nastya, where Pavlyuk’s sweet gemstone scribbles further embellish the statement piece-laden campaign images.

Chunky cuffs, exaggerated necklaces and large drop earrings all brandishing crystal leaf and flower shapes dominate Mawi’s AW14 season. Devotees of the the London-based accessories brand can also breathe a sigh of relief, as their coveted glitter bug clutches are back in fuzzier form, where the label’s signature spikes and tubes remain prominent design elements.

So, this winter, give the frost outside a run for its money by adorning your extremities in Mawi’s glistening designs. Achieving a look that’s anything but dazzling will be near impossible.
