Luxury Italian brand La Perla has launched a new collection for men influenced by the submarine world

SS15 is a foray into something a little more surreal from luxury lifestyle and lingerie brand, La Perla. The Italian fashion house has launched a new collection for men influenced by the submarine world.

Creative director for the project is Tuscan designer Emilia Rinaldi. For his brand new concept of menswear, he took fabrics from women’s lingerie collections and reinterpreted them for a soft masculine feel.

The colour palette reaches from subtle shades of white to cerulean blue, coral reds to deep-sea black, with highlights of iridescent Lycra – fabric not far removed from the fish scales that inspired the scuba style suits.

Breathable layers of beach clothing are juxtaposed with skin-tight creations, one of which is skintight from head to toe. Gauze gives tantalizing glimpses of limbs, whilst cupron and silk skim torsos.

Classic tuxedo jackets are given a modern twist by layering over shimmering kimonos and billowing trousers. Separates are given a new meaning with silk shorts over sheer leggings. Tracksuits are made luxurious when paired with cashmere t-shirts. And all the while, the collection manages to feel light and delicate.

La Perla and Rinaldi have created a collection so elegant that it’s versatility stretches beyond loungewear to create a hybrid of indulgent, functional outwear.
