MCM’s playful attitude shines through in a limited edition collection drawing on the vibrancy of Brazilian culture to coincide with the 2014 World Cup
With one of the world’s most exciting sporting events playing muse to a whole host of creatives this summer, yesterday marked the launch of the of the MCM limited edition nineteen-piece ‘München Cute Monsters’ collection, that coincides with the 2014 World Cup and the invigorating excitement surrounding it.
Featuring two pop art characters Viktor & Viktoria, as MCM’s monster mascots for the games, the collection of vividly animated tan, black and white leather bags, backpacks and accessories make for the perfect luggage to accompany you this summer; wether you’re jetting off to the main event itself or supporting from home turf. Joined by their favourite mascot dog and various other elements from their high-octane animated world, the cheerful monsters serve as the main motifs for the limited edition collection. Fusing Brazilian trademarks such as carnival, samba street performances, the country’s legendary beaches, striking modern architecture, and ever-present live music, the artworks reflect the jovial nature of the soccer-centric nation. The vivacious monsters are painted in the iconic greens and blues of the Brazilian flag, while their goggle-eyes pop out in print elements mixed with soccer themes such as the well-known black pentagons of the game’s famous ball.
In celebration of the launch, MCM presented us with an evening of World Cup fever and Brazilian culture at their London flagship last night. From the all-branded MCM London taxi cab that chauffeured guests throughout the evening, to the fleet of beautiful Brazilian dancers who turned many a head as they paraded down Sloane Street to the beat of traditional drums – it was a colourful fiasco drawing on the vibrancy of Brazilian culture and the festivity of the ultimate soccer tournament on the planet.
For one month only, all styles of the limited edition collection are available from the Sloane Street store and selected styles from Selfridges and Harrods.
