Ralph Lauren the king of fresh simplicity unveiled his SS15 resort collection to peeled eyes in New York yesterday
With a definite fragrance or artist’s muse in the air, models walked down a carpeted runway clad in berets, gilded with gold accessories that seemed moulded to the skin. A picture of the preppy professional we have come to respect and expect from Ralph. Nautical prints kept the colour palette to a muted level, lifted by polka dots and panel invoked stripes the garments hung off the models in effortless succession.
From a shift dress and pyjama bottoms to full fur ruff, a variety of silhouettes and top heavy textures out shone even the chandelier, which came to act as a hazy halo above each model posing for the camera. A nod to nautical foremost, yet with hushed tones alluding to a sophisticated post-Cannes night out.
The difference in attire was something to marvel at as necklines were raised and dropped as quickly as they appeared and fabrics ranging from chiffon to woven metallics. Proportions blocked by the stripes of layered turtle necks with sheer palazzo pants stinted the collection’s accolade of being “Resort” as interchangeable pieces could easily be worn for all seasons.
