Despite being up against eleven influential designers, including the likes of fellow Brit Simone Rocha, Simon Porte Jacquemus and Shayne Oliver’s Hood by Air, British designer, Thomas Tait swept up the LVMH Young Designer Prize. Having been scrutinised and then chosen by a prestigious panel which read like a fashion A-Z – Raf Simons, Phoebe Philo, Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs and Riccardo Tisci amongst others – Tait’s financial struggles as an independent designer are soon to be over. Awarded the prize of €300,000 to invest, along with a year-long mentorship, we are expecting big things from Tait’s eponymous label.

Following his AW14 showcase of bold, abstract minimalism, clean lines, sleek complex construction and block colouring we’re expecting more innovative pattern-cutting, body engulfing silhouettes and Bauhaus references for SS15.
