With a well-established music career, as well as a role in the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie adaptation, Rita Ora is proving she is a talent worth watching out for. Now has come the announcement that she will become the first female music artist to work as a collaborator for adidas, following in the footsteps of Stella McCartney and Mary Katrantzou (also coming soon).

The collection itself will be released in five separate capsules towards the end of this year, focusing on several facets of Ora’s personal style. The first “Black” line is a nod to her statement London look, which will include sneakers, leather jackets and sheer-paneled tracksuits. “The collaboration came about through mutual love and appreciation. I have always been a fan of adidas Originals and respect what they stand for in their fearlessness and originality,” says Rita. “I worked very closely with adidas Originals to put a personal touch in every piece with connections to my music, my career and my life. I’m really proud of the collection and beyond excited for my fans to get their hands on it!”

In keeping with the aforementioned personal ouch, another of the lines within the collection is based on one of Rita’s dove tattoos. “It’s the softer, more feminine side of me with its soft colours and cutouts on the sleeves with suede – you know, things that are nice to touch and feel,” Ora told WWD. Design director of adidas Originals also spoke of the collaboration to WWD: “Rita is, first of all, an amazing person and colourful and outgoing. She has a great way of mixing fashion and streetwear and has a big love for the brand, and it was obvious that we needed to work with her.”

If all of this has whet your appetite, you’ll have to be patient as the first drop won’t hit adidas Originals stores until August 21st. We predict a sell-out, and a quick one at that!
