SUMMER DREAMS AT SOMERSET HOUSE

This summer celebrates 10 years of Film4’s Summer Screen at London’s Somerset House

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the iconic Summer Screen event at Somerset House. To celebrate, Film4 have pulled out all the stops and have put on a bumper season that builds on the legacy that they have created in the last decade. Arguably kick starting the trend for outdoor cinema, Film4 have once again selected a roster of cult classics and UK premieres for our viewing pleasure.

Among the films chosen is the first UK showing of previous Palme d’Or winners  Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s Two Days, One Night, starring Marion Cotillard. The film is expected to win big at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, but you can see it right on your doorstep this summer. Also on the lineup are classics such as Rosemary’s Baby, Mad Max 2, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, and Hairspray.

This year Film4 are also introducing their ‘Best of 10’ vote, which will give the public control over the final film added to the bill, decided by an online vote. The list will be comprised of 10 bestselling films from the last 10 years, including The Shining, E.T., and Die Hard. Also new this year are a film poster exhibition and a ‘Behind The Screen’ program, which includes talks, workshops, and film location tours

For seasoned cinema fanatics this promises to be Film4’s best Summer Screen season yet. For more information and tickets head to somersethouse.org.uk.
