Burberry exclusively reveal their SS14 eyewear collection, inspired by the iconic Trench Coat. 

The Burberry trench coat has been a classic wardrobe staple since its inception in the early twentieth century, originally created for protection from the elements whilst also being light and comfortable to wear it has now become a classic part of women’s, and mens, fashion.

It has now become an icon in its own right, in fact Burberry’s latest eyewear collection was inspired by it. The collection of sunglasses follows the same principles and reflects many of the coat’s signature design details. Taking inspiration from the leather clad buckles from the trench, temple tips are also bound in leather with tonal stitching. Of course the infamous Burberry check, which lines the coat, makes an appearance in the collection – from the bespoke nose pads, to the enamelled and engraved details on the inner and outer temples. Made from acetate, leather, metal and enamel on a classic Burberry colour palette of warm honey and gold, crisp stone and silver and signature black and tortoise.
