FASHION EAST AW14

Ashley Williams waves goodbye with her last collection for Fashion East whilst Lou Alsop and Helen Lawrence make their fashion week debut.

LOU ALSOP

Newbie Lou Alsop opened the show with a rearing 90’s grungy collection, with frayed tunics and her name and words such as ‘loveless’ and ‘hopeless’ loosely stitched on the front. The shoe situation included black Superga’s paired with opaque laddered socks and black slip on mules. Hair and make up all reiterated the grunge sexy tomboy vibe. When speaking of her collections Alsop said  “These are clothes that I have, or want to have,” she said. “If I want to wear it, I think other people might want to wear it too.”.

HELEN LAWRENCE

Helen Lawrence isn’t new to fashion week, having already established herself as knit collaborator with Craig Green, and she truly showed that this is where her speciality lies. Although she didn’t restrict herself to kntiwear alone including leather, chambray pieces and laser cut felt however mohair was her go to material. The collection was inspired by the child who longs to be grown up and the adult who longs for her youth back and this was chanelled with a sorbet, pastel colour palette. We especially love the green crop mohair jumper paired with a-line skirt.

ASHLEY WILLIAMS

Ashley’s third and final collection for Fashion East most definitely certified her position as one of the hottest design talents out there. Inspired by Texas and Calamity Jane she sent down a host of models in snake prints, denim, metallic dungas and horse print leathers. Obsessed with Eliza Cummings closing the show in an amazing black fringed coat. Personal highlights include the jeans with the floral patchwork on the behind and the cat jumper and basically all of it.
