Being born and raised near the Californian coast and living in such close proximity to the ocean has resulted in the protection of marine life being a cause close to the hearts of both Carol and Humberto for many years. For their Spring/Summer 2014 collection they drew heavy influences from aquatic life and used it to draw attention to issues such as sea pollution, overfishing and the destruction of marine life. The duo have gone even further, making it their mission to assist in the fight to save the worlds marine life, choosing to partner Blue Marine Foundation insisting that they are one of few charities that actually do things instead of just talking about them.

Blue was first established in 2010 and is dedicated to actively protecting 10 per cent of the worlds oceans by 2020 and work hard to ensure that our oceans are no longer out of sight out of mind.
KENZO have launched a line of unisex sweatshirts and t-shirts, all bearing the slogan “No Fish No Nothing” available online and in stores, in a bid to create awareness of this issue and to financially support the Blue Marine Foundation.

In a statement the designers said, ”We were eager to partner with a visionary organization that spoke about how we could live in harmony with the ocean. As we researched different charitable associations, we discovered the Blue Marine Foundation to be the perfect match. We are extremely excited about this long term partnership between KENZO and the Blue Marine Foundation and hope to create more and more awareness to this issue.”  image
