What do Grace Jones and Madonna have in common? They’re both BFFs with super stylist Maripol, of course. Aside from literally being obsessed with any kind of crucifix and for making Her Madgesty’s iconic looks back in the Like a Virgin days, Maripol has now collaborated with LA-based brand Joyrich. But the excitement doesn’t stop there. As from today, Joyrich will be taking over part of the Machine-A store in Soho. Which means that a whole room of the brand’s sartorial wonders is literally around the corner, including their exclusive Maripol collection. And there’s no ignoring the 80s influence, with the designs including bombers, backpacks and bumbags, all emblazoned with the designer’s own moniker as well as amazing images of icons including Grace herself. Considering the fact that Maripol has produced films starring Basquiat and Blondie, acted as art director on music videos for Cher and Elton John and is basically responsible for 80s Madonna as we know her, it’s quite possible that you’ll be picking up a future piece of pop history with your new bomber jacket.
