ONE DIRECTION: THIS IS US

If your Christmas break has been anything like ours, then it was mainly spent on a sofa eating Quality Street and watching the One Direction Movie, on repeat.

A few weeks ago we spoke to super star director and 1-D best pal Ben Winston about ‘One Direction: This Is Us’ the movie documenting the success of everyone’s favourite boyband.

WONDERLAND: When did you first work with One Direction?

BEN WINSTON: I worked with them 3 years ago when they came off X Factor. The best thing about them is they have hardly changed. They are still just as fun and excitable. I think that’s what makes them so appealing – they are the quintessential boy next door.

How did you get the idea for the movie?

It was something we all wanted to do. Columbia pictures were keen as were the boys. And the story is so good. Five boys coming from nowhere to become some of the biggest stars in the world in 3 years. A scriptwriter couldn’t make it up

Did it take much convincing for the boys to do it?

No, they are used to having camera around them from X Factor days so were keen. Everyone wants to star in a movie!

During the movie the fans get quite erratic, what was the craziest thing you have seen a fan do?

Hard one! I guess every time they go on the Today show in New York, kids come from across America and camp on the street for a week. And they only get a glimpse of the boys. That’s pretty mad..

If each boy had a separate movie soundtrack what would it be?

Harry  – Smooth Operator by Sade

Zayn – Mysterious Girl by Peter Andre

Liam – Open Road by Gary Barlow

Louis – Anything by The Sex Pistols

Niall – All You Need Is Love by The Beatles

What is your favourite One Direction song?

Song – Kiss You
