Matt Holyoak and Sam Carder bring us an exclusive video for Wonderland celebrating the latest Evisu collection.
Named after the Japanese god of prosperity, Evisu is the cult denim brand which gives new meaning to a labour of love. Originally only creating 14 pairs of jeans a day, Evisu was founded in Osaka in 1991, with each pair of jeans being painstakingly hand painted with the now unmistakable seagull logo. With a vintage denim aesthetic and a focus on high-end, labour intensive manufacture, Evisu has become renowned for attention to detail and a luxurious kind of cool. The brand celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2011, and has basically collaborated with just about everyone. There was even a pair of jeans emblazoned with the Union Jack in honour of the royal wedding! The seagull was still there, obviously. Previously installed at Boxpark in Shoreditch, Evisu has even had its own exhibition in London, celebrating its 20 years of denim delights. From carrot to skinny, there has been no denim stone left unturned, and there is literally something for everyone from the menswear and womenswear collections to the kidswear and accessories. These are the kind of jeans that just fit.
