Here’s why Hedi Slimane’s men’s spring collection for Saint Laurent was one of the best things to ever happen to the world of men. Ever.

These are exactly the boys you wanted to be, or be with as a teenager. And by you I mean me. Boys so thin you could fit their hips in the crook of your arm. When you ran your hand through their hair, it’d come away slick with wax.  The sort of boy who can get away with wearing glossy red lipstick (perfectly applied for the show by Aaron de Mey) and looking, well, boyish. And hot.

Slimane has once again repositioned the waist, moving it closer to the navel and away from the current vogue for either having the waistband of your jeans around your knee or ass crack. His vision of masculinity is hyper sexual in its concentration on the crotch. Aside from this, there was such a vast array of colour and pattern, whether you want a jewel toned blazer or red patent trousers. Hawaiian print over stripes.monochrome is looking kind of done. Although he also has options for those who only wear black.
