IN PROFILE: ZAWE ASHTON

We caught up with the lead girl from Channel 4 comedy Fresh Meat.  

Zawe Ashton is the actress and playwright, most famous for her role as Vod in the hit Channel 4 comedy Fresh Meat. Also famous for her role in St. Trinians II where she played teenage tear-away Bianca.

WONDERLAND: Whats your favorite fashion item?
Zawe: I throw away hundreds and hundreds of animal ear headbands. My favourites are my Mini Mouse ears.

Whats your favorite thing to do for each season of the year?
Travel. Spring – Berlin. Summer – Antibes. Autumn – New York. Winter – Uganda.

If you could have been a fly on the wall on any move set what would it be?
Godard’s  – À bout de souffle.  I live in that film in my head. I’m French in my head a lot of the time.

What is the last great book you’ve read?
On Writing – Stephen King

Whats is the last song played on your iPod?
Rebel Girl – Bikini Kill (I saw the brilliant Kathleen Hanna film ‘The Punk Singer’ last night.)

Would you rather shave your head or shave your eyebrows?
Eyebrows, happily! So Bowie!

Say your life was oriented in such a way that it was like the Jim Carrey film ‘The Truman Show’ would you rather be ignorant of the perpetual attention/surveillance or would you rather know about it?
Ah I love these questions! There’s only so long you can project a persona before cracks appear and real life is like ‘HI!!’ (See ‘In Bed With Madonna’ for fabulous references of this.)
